Board of Directors

Beza Threads is led by a board of directors that oversee the operations and provide vision for the organization.

Josiah Carter is the president of Beza Threads, founding the organization after visiting Ethiopia for the first time in 2008. He handles all media and speaking engagements. He lives in Des Moines, IA with his wife Megan.

Megan Carter serves as the board secretary and coordinates the organization’s in-person events. She has been involved with Beza Threads since 2009.

Autumn Rupkey is one of the original founders of the organization. She handles much of our communication and graphic design.

Adam Cooley lives in Des Moines, IA and handles our networking relationships. He works at Facebook as a backbone engineer in their Altoona, IA datacenter. (He won’t admit it, but he’s kind of a big deal.)

Amanda VandeKrol lives in Des Moines and has been involved with Beza Threads since it was formally organized in 2010. She acts as treasurer for the organization.

Kevin VandeKrol lives in Des Moines with his wife Amanda. He has been involved with Beza Threads since 2010 and oversees the website and other technology-related initiatives.

Scott Oswald joined the board of directors in 2014 after joining the team on a trip to Ethiopia.  He manages key donor relationships.
